Too much of a good thing

What a wealth of new plants this year! Poring over the selections makes one feel like a kid in a candy shop — I’ll take one of each, please. Better yet, it’s like flipping through the old Sears catalog in the weeks before Christmas, dog-earing pages and making a list for Santa. Each page holds something exciting, tempting and filled with promise.

As happens every year, there were far too many plant submissions to place in the print version of American Nurseryman — but that’s okay. In fact, it’s a good thing; the more, the merrier.

So we decided to be good to Mother Earth and hold the number of printed pages to a minimum, using less paper and taking advantage of the magic of electronic publishing. Besides, we’re mindful that not everyone remembers the Sears catalog — or wants to.

When the electronic version of this month’s issue is available, you’ll find more outstanding new plants. But you’ll also be able to print pages for your files, add personal notes, share your faves with friends and colleagues — have a ball! Magnify a portion of the page (a bonus for tired eyes); save a copy to read offline; add bookmarks; search through issues; even share the magazine on Facebook! 

Your expanded, electronic version of our annual New Plants issue will debut early in December.

There’s a world of possibilities, and there’s a wealth of plants to be found and shared. And if the bumper crop of new plants for 2010 is any indication, it looks like we’re in for a great new year!
