On the Road Again

Planning a summer or fall road trip? Why not take in a trade show or two?

The debate pops up every few years: To show or not to show. Too many shows? Too many events and not enough time - or attendees? Outsiders continue to marvel at the number of events the green industry hosts each year, suggesting now and again that we should be just like them: Have one big, week-long blow-out in Las Vegas and let that be it. Or let's just gather around our respective conference tables and video-conference ourselves through the business at hand.

Really?

What about the touch, the fragrance of all those glorious plants? What about the time-tested value of eyeball-to-eyeball conversations? What about those all- important "meet in the corridor after the session and let's compare notes" analyses? Awfully hard to accomplish electronically.

Yes, there are a lot of events. But it just makes this little preview that much more valuable. Go on ... peruse the list. You know you want to. You know you need to. Pick a few and make your plans. And then send us a postcard.

Happy trails!
