Sunny Border Nurseries, Inc. has announced that David Culp has been selected to receive the 2014 Garden Media Award from the Perennial Plant Association.
This award is given each year to an individual whose educational and promotional efforts have increased awareness of perennials and the perennial industry.
David has been with Sunny Border Nurseries for over 22 years. He has become well known nationally as a key industry professional for his many speaking engagements to both the trade and home gardeners, as well as his best-selling book The Layered Garden - Design Lessons for Year-Round Beauty from Brandywine Cottage. Since its release in 2013, it has sold more than 30,000 copies to date and was listed as one of the Best New Books by Barnes & Noble. It also received the 2013 Media Award from the Garden Writers Association for Best Overall Book. 
Culp's credits include the Distinguished Garden Award from the Pennsylvania Horticulture Society and the Pennsylvania Horticultural Award of Merit. He has been on the planning committee for the Perennial Plant Conference at Scott Arboretum for more than 20 years, as well as being an instructor at Longwood Gardens. In addition, he has made frequent appearances on the Martha Stewart Show as well as guest appearances on various radio and TV networks, including CNN and the Comcast Network. He has been a Contributing Editor for Horticulture Magazine and has been published in numerous other national publications, including the New York Times, Wall Street Journal, Philadelphia Inquirer and Pittsburgh Post-Gazette.
