The 2016 Western show proved for a busy two days with networking events and opportunities for educational sessions. The show was held in Kansas City January 21 to 22 and was sponsored by the Western Nursery & Landscape Association.
Doug Tallamy, kicked off the show Wednesday morning with his keynote Creating Living Landscapes presentation, which was part of the WNLA Native Plants Education series. According to the Western website, Doug Tallamy is a professor and chair of the department of entomology and wildlife ecology at the University of Delaware in Newark, Delaware. He is also the author of “Bringing Nature Home: How You Can Sustain Wildlife with Native Plants”.
Throughout the day, the show gained momentum and more break-out sessions were happening around the show floor. Each session was between 10 and 20 minutes long and offered quick and easy information for attendees from new varieties to herbicide information.
Thursday evening gave way to the American Nurseryman-sponsored fashion show. The fashion show presented plants from brands such as Greenleaf Nursery and Upshoot, LLC.
