Burpee Names New President
W. Atlee Burpee Company has named Benjamin Lacson as president. Lacson joined Burpee in 2008 and has more than 35 years of experience. He initially served as Burpee’s vice president of production and product development before becoming the company’s senior executive vice president and chief financial officer in 2012.

Horticultural Research Institute has announced the addition of a new pollinator education and sales tool for garden retailers. The “Trees for Bees” poster illustrates the fact that trees are an important food source for pollinators.
ErfGoed Develops Rail Systems
ErfGoed is in the process of marketing a new flexible rail system for use on its cultivation floor. The special trolley bridge, a sort of adapter that bridges the gap between the cultivation floor and the concrete pathway, ensures that the cart can be moved from the cultivation floor to the pathway without problems.
AmericanHort Testimony Defends Importance of H-2B Program
The Senate Judiciary Subcommittee on Immigration and the National Interest held a hearing titled, “The H-2B Temporary Foreign Worker Program: Examining the Effects on Americans’ Job Opportunities and Wages.” The Committee chairman, Jeff Sessions (R-AL), invited a panel of union, worker advocate, and immigration restrictionists who presented a hostile picture of the program as a threat to American workers and wages.
Monrovia and HOME FREE Team Up for Season Two
Monrovia joins HOME FREE for a second season premiering June 16 on FOX. Contestnats will be competing to win a home for their personal heroes. Monrovia will provide all of the plants used to landscape these homes.
