National Garden Bureau Accepting Applications
National Garden Bureau will grant $5,000 this fall to be split among three therapeutic gardens in North America. Beginning this month, NGB will begin accepting applications from therapeutic gardens and from all applications received, a group of horticulture therapy experts will narrow all applications down to three finalists.

SiteOne Landscape Supply’s IPO has opened for trading at $25.64 per share.

SEGreen Landscape Conference Announced
The Southern Nursery Association (SNA) has announced the details of the new SEGreen Landscape Conference that’s scheduled for August 31 to September 1 at The Classic Center in Athens, Georgia. Registration for the conference is $90 for a one-day access pass for Wednesday or Thursday and $150 for an all access pass with the option of attending any SEGreen Plant Conference or SEGreen Landscape Conference sessions.

Event Planning Apps Available
Free event planning apps are now available for The Eastern Show for IGCs and IGC Show Chicago from the Apple App Store and on Google Play. IGC retailers are able to map out their strategies and get all of the sessions, free keynotes, garden center tours and Tuesday party and concert information.

GROWS Names Angelo Butera 2016 Future Leader
Angelo Butera, a horticulture student at Minuteman High School in Lexington, Massachusetts, was named the GROWS Future Leader of the Year based on an essay he wrote about his experiences at GROWS that captured the spirit, determination and insight of a Future Leader. Butera was recognized for his achievement in a ceremony held at Minuteman High School on May 10. Michelle Harvey, New England GROWS’ president and owner of Lakeview Nurseries in Lunenburg, Masschusetts presented Angelo with the 2016 GROWS Future Leader of the Year award.

GIE+EXPO 2016 Registration is Open
Registration is now open for GIE+EXPO 2016 for landscape professionals. The annual tradeshow is set for October 20 to 21 at the Kentucky Exposition Center in Louisville, Kentucky.

Bandit Industries Receives Presidential Award
Bandit Industries has received the President’s “E” Award for Exports at a ceremony in Washington, D.C., on May 16. Penny Pritzker, U.S. Secretary of Commerce, presented the award. The President’s “E” Award is the highest recognition any United States entity can receive for making a significant contribution to the expansion of U.S. exports.

Dramm Corporation Celebrates 75 Years
The Dramm Corporation is celebrating its 75th anniversary. Today the company has expanded into four business segments: Commercial, DRAMMwater, Fertilizer, and Retail.

Easy Gardener Products Changes Name to The Jobe’s Company
Easy Gardener Products announced that it will begin doing business as The Jobe’s Company and reposition itself with a newly-designed website. Jobe’s will focus on its competencies of fertilizers and landscape products under the brand.

NALP Overtime Rule Update
The U.S. Department of Labor released its overtime rule addressing overtime pay. NALP has been involved in the Partnership to Protect Workplace Opportunity (PPWO) Coalition, which has been focused on educating Members of Congress about business concerns regarding the proposed overtime changes. The PPWO is continuing to ask its members to tell Congress that S. 2707 and H.R. 4773, the Protecting Workplace Advancement and Opportunity Act, will provide relief from this rule.

California Suspends Water Restrictions
California has suspended its 25 percent reduction in urban water use. Communities have been told to set their own conservation standards because of the wet winter and savings in water use.
